Asa (Ace) Wilson Snr was a wealthy dairy farmer who was concerned about his son’s interest in speed and street racing. His solution? Buy the boy a car dealership, in the hope that the time needed to run the operation would distract him from his other activities. It did the opposite, and Ace Wilson Jnr established Royal Pontiac of Royal Oaks, MI as one of the primo performance car outlets in Detroit. Working closely with Pontiac and their performance GTO models, the Royal Bobcat program could offer up to 38 different upgrades and options to power hungry customers in the mid 1960s. Hurst speed equipment’s involvement would further enhance Pontiac’s reputation for high performance.

1966 would mark Pontiac’s biggest year for GTO sales and Royal Pontiac was right in the mix. The highly detailed replica of Wilson’s ‘Royal Bobcat’ ’66 GTO drag car features stunning Hurst Gold paintwork and a full ensemble of period performance decals. Under the hood is the Royal-prepped 389 with tri-power induction, back by a four speed transmission and of course that famous Hurst shifter. The Hurst enhancement continues through to the stunning ribbed five spoke wheels, with redline front runners and drag slicks for maximum traction. The detailed interior includes bucket seats with cloth seatbelts, a full gauge panel and even floor mats!

1:18 scale. Limited to 636 pieces worldwide.
